Susana Alarcón participates in the final event of bilbao zero2

The Ensanche Building has hosted the final event of the first iteration of the Bilbao Zero2 project, which aims to promote strategic collaborations with companies, universities and highly specialized technologists; that help and accompany the Bilbao City Council to continue building the city facing their new challenges.

During the celebration of this final event, in which Susana Alarcon, a mathematician and founding partner of Ingartek, participated, representing the Mobility Cluster, different challenges that the city must address have been presented, to which innovative technological solutions have been provided, that will derive in the implementation of pilot projects.

First project interaction

After the fourth Think Tank held last May, where the progress made to date was presented, the objective of the event has been to share and learn about the results and experience of the companies and agents that have participated in the first iteration of the BILBAO ZERO2 project.

Thus, representatives of the municipal areas of the consistory involved in the project, representatives of the four clusters that are part of the project and some of the participating companies have presented the results obtained in each of the projects, in addition to sharing the assessment of the process of work carried out through round tables.

Among them, technologists, as well as research professionals summoned by INNOLAB Bilbao and representatives of the four clusters that are part of the project: ERAIKUNE – Basque Country Construction Cluster, Basque Country Energy Cluster, ACLIMA – Environment Cluster of the Basque Country and MLC ITS – Mobility and Logistics Cluster of the Basque Country

Three round tables

The round tables have been structured as follows:

  • Round table 1: City challenges related to renewable urban energy generation, efficient energy consumption, building rehabilitation, infrastructure management and maintenance, and data management have been addressed.
  • Round table 2: Work has been done on projects related to waste management, renaturalization and urban regeneration, the planning and management of strategic projects and the measurement of the real footprint.
  • Round table 3: The methodology applied in the projects and multidisciplinary work groups of Bilbao Zero2 has been shared. It is precisely in this round table where Alarcón has participated.

Additionally, an active networking session has been carried out where the exchange of information and contacts has been made possible, as well as the possibility of knowing first-hand the experiences of people, companies and agents involved in the project.

The Bilbao of the future

BILBAO ZERO2 was born as a consequence of the acceleration that will occur in the progressive return to normality of economic processes, with an intensification of Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Digitization, among others.

The project is valid for 3 years, a period in which work sessions will be held annually to identify the opportunities that technology and advanced services can offer as a lever to solve the challenges posed. In this sense, the problems that are analyzed are real needs of Bilbao, defined from the own municipal Areas of the City Council.

Zorrotzaurre is also identified as a possible place of execution of the projects defined in Bilbao Zero 2, aligned with the deployment of the first phase of the urban technology park, new spaces of opportunity for the establishment of companies and the generation of employment.

Bilbao in motion

From Ingartek we want to thank Bilbao Zero 2 for giving us the opportunity to show our knowledge in mobility within the Bilbao Zero2 project. Bilbao is our home, and it is always a pleasure to be able to collaborate on projects as interesting as this one.

Sustainable mobility is increasingly present in collaborative and urban development projects in our municipalities and cities, and we are happy to see how Bilbao has worked to improve in this regard in recent years.
