Problema

Ingartek developed for Megapark Commercial Park a project to analyse and plan commuting patterns with the aim of improving commute management for employees and moving towards a more sustainable and efficient mobility model.

Currently, this type of project is particularly relevant with the entry into force of Law 9/2025 on Sustainable Mobility, which requires many companies and organisations to implement a Sustainable Commuting Plan (SCP) and plan the commuting patterns of their workplaces.

The project analysed the commuting habits of employees at the commercial park and identified improvement opportunities tailored to the characteristics of the environment and the activity carried out at Megapark.

The challenge

One of the main challenges was the high dependence on private vehicles to access the commercial park, driven by ample free parking and certain mobility habits of users.

At the same time, the area offered extensive public transport options and a significant proportion of employees lived within 10 kilometres of the workplace, opening real opportunities to promote more sustainable commuting.

Furthermore, factors such as flexible commuting, lack of information on existing alternatives, and difficulty coordinating shared trips directly influenced mobility habits.

Mobility analysis and diagnosis

For the project, Ingartek conducted a detailed analysis of the commuting patterns of Megapark Commercial Park using:

  • Mobility surveys of employees
  • Commuting and accessibility analysis
  • Study of the environment and public transport
  • Analysis of mobility habits
  • Evaluation of improvement opportunities

The diagnosis identified commuting patterns, detected limitations related to sustainable mobility, and analysed potential measures adapted to the characteristics of the commercial park and its surroundings.

Additionally, the project included a participatory process to gather input from employees and facilitate the progressive implementation of the Sustainable Commuting Plan (SCP).

Solución planteada

Based on the analysis, Ingartek developed a Sustainable Commuting Plan (SCP) tailored to the mobility needs of Megapark Commercial Park.

The project defined various measures to facilitate more sustainable and efficient commuting for employees, including:

  • Encouragement of walking, cycling and electric scooter travel
  • Promotion of car sharing
  • Improved accessibility for sustainable modes
  • Awareness and awareness-raising actions
  • Proposals related to public transport and cycling infrastructure
  • Planning and monitoring of implemented measures

Additionally, a progressive action plan was defined to facilitate the implementation, control and future monitoring of the SCP.

Result

The project provided Megapark Commercial Park with a detailed overview of employee commuting patterns and identified real improvement opportunities tailored to the characteristics of the environment and the commercial park’s activity.

The analysis facilitated the definition of viable measures aimed at improving commuting patterns, reducing dependence on private vehicles, and moving towards a more efficient and sustainable mobility model.

Furthermore, the project established structured planning aligned with the new requirements related to Sustainable Commuting Plans (SCPs) and the management of commuting patterns in environments with a high volume of trips.
