Client<\/p><\/div>[vc_single_image image=”16389″ img_size=”250×130″ qode_css_animation=””][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Arabako Bideak-V\u00edas de \u00c1lava, S.A.,\u00a0Arabat<\/a>, is a company within the Department of Public Works and Transport of the Provincial Council of \u00c1lava, whose purpose is the conservation, maintenance, operation and safety of the Vitoria-Gasteiz-Eibar motorway<\/strong>\u00a0in the stretch that runs through the Historic Province of \u00c1lava.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]

Project<\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]The purpose of this study was to analyse the planned evolution of the demand of vehicles on the AP-1 as it passes through the stretch of the province of \u00c1lava.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]

Objectives<\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]Find out the evolution of mobility <\/b>on this stretch of the AP-1 in order to estimate the evolution of income and the link that this evolution has with different socioeconomic variables.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Problem<\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]Find out demand on the AP-1 in the coming years taking into account the planned modifications to the network.<\/p>\n

Demand on the AP-1 has gradually consolidated since its opening in 2009, although in 2012 it was affected by the economic crisis, whose negative consequences on activity always result in a withdrawal of mobility. <\/b>From 2013 on, there was a recovery in traffic levels, a symptom of leaving the crisis behind.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]

<\/i>

Solution<\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]Generate a specific model of demand for Arabat that takes into account the evolution of all the factors that will have an influence on demand: new toll roads, new roads\u2026<\/p>\n

In order to analyse this infrastructural modification, the following steps were followed:[\/vc_column_text]

  1. Analysis <\/strong>of current traffic.<\/li>\n
  2. Estimation <\/strong>of the growth of mobility in each time scenario analysed.<\/li>\n
  3. Evolution <\/strong>of the average daily traffic intensity in different periods.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/div>[vc_column_text]All of the analysis was carried out using the prognosis model for mobility and traffic assignment developed by INGARTEK.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]

    <\/i>

    Tools<\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]INGARTEK has the roads network modelled <\/b>using\u00a0EMME <\/b>assignment software. It was used to calculate the distribution of flows throughout the road networks <\/b>of the Basque Country, which enabled us to find out the distribution of traffic.<\/p>\n

    In order to characterise the current users <\/b>of the Ap-1 and N1, a series of surveys <\/b>were carried out, which were also used in order to identify feelings towards the tolling of heavy vehicles.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]
